Pakistan : Hefty package for textile industry

End of quota regime knocks doors of opporutnities for textile industry of developing countries and Government of Pakistan does not want to lose this opportunity.

To provide boost to its textile industry, Government has announced Rs22 to Rs25 billion package anticipating 20 percent growth in export.

Government has also decided to give more importance to research and development to comply with the global standards of quality and services.

Out of the total Research & Development fund, 3 percent will be allocated to dyed, printed and white home textiles, while 5 percent will be for dyed and printed home textiles.

This allocation of fund was approved at meeting between Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
